Lighting Changes for the New Year

Lighting Changes for the New Year

This New Year most definitely brings change to the lighting industry. The hot topic of 2011 was the Energy and Independence Act legislation as well as the debut of the “Lighting Facts” label. If you are unfamiliar with the E.I.S.A. legislation, I encourage all of our customers to watch this video http://elitelighting.ifg.net/videos/show/http-youtu.be-H6Hx4GCNSh4 that we have posted to our video section of the website. It touches on the E.I.S.A. and how it will affect both consumers and the lighting industry.

This year will begin the phase out of many specific incandescent light bulbs and the production of most T12 linear fluorescent lamps.  Production of magnetic ballasts for the T12 lamps has already been eliminated.  However, there are many upgrades available to replace the T12 lamps.

Secondly, the “Lighting Facts” label is the new official documentation of measuring light output. Prior to the new label, lighting manufacturers sold bulbs based on their wattage. Now, its all about the lumens due to the new energy-efficient standards. All lighting manufacturers will be required to print this label on their product packaging. You will see this label in the very near future so now is the time to ask any questions you may have. You may also visit the Federal Trade Commission's website for a complete explanation http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2010/06/lightbulbs.shtm

So, how do these changes affect Elite Lighting and our customers. With these changes can bring good news to our customers. Lucrative rebates are now being offered by a number of utility companies if the switch to energy-efficient lighting products is made in accordance to specifications that have been set forth.

Stay tuned for upgrade alternatives and thank you for your business.
