Fluorescent Lighting

How we think, feel and perform depends a great deal on our lighting environment. Thus, good lighting is essential as it functions as a major determination of our moods. Proper lighting also very importantly provides aesthetic value to a room.

Historically, lamps with good color rendering qualities produced only 60 to 70% of the light of standard white lamps. Now, because of new revolutionary advances in lighting we can offer color enhancing fluorescent lamps that actually deliver more light output than standard lamp designs. This is extremely important because great color can be achieved without sacrificing light output.

Below is a list of Elite’s most popular fluorescent colors. Please keep in mind the following 3 factors when deciding on the proper lamp for your application:

CRI

Color Rendering Index. This determines how true colors of objects or skin appear.

Kelvin

Color Temperature. Lamps have different color temperatures which determine how a room will look (e.g., cool versus warm). A lamp’s color temperature will affect 6the mood of a room you are lighting.

Light Output

The relative light output (lumens) of a lamp.

Fluorescent Colors

Cool White

Kelvin = 4100K CRI = 62 Light Output = 100% in 4 foot lamp. Atmosphere is cool.

This lamp is best applied in areas of general lighting because of its lumen output. The cool white lamp is used where color rendering is not an important factor, such as industrial, commercial, institutional, and government applications. Cool white is one of the least expensive light sources.

Daylight Deluxe

Kelvin = 6500K CRI = 84 Light Output = 76% in 4 foot lamp. Atmosphere is cool/daylight.

The bluish white appearance of this lamp is similar to natural daylight. It makes rooms seem very cool and often gives a store, office, or industrial area a blue white radiance. It is often used over white goods or jewelry in a retail store. This lamp is also used for a general non critical illumination.

Warm White

Kelvin = 3000K CRI = 54 Light Output = 102% in 4 foot lamp. Atmosphere is warm.

The warm white fluorescents provide a light very high in yellow orange. The light is a much warmer atmosphere than cool white and is a good choice to blend with incandescent bulbs. This light is excellent in restaurants, lounges, and where a warm intimate atmosphere is desirable. Warm white accents skin tones and facial expressions.

Full Spectrum

Excella-Kelvin = 5765K, CR = 91 or Spectralite-Kelvin = 5900K, CRI = 90 Light Output = 81% in 4 foot lamps. Atmosphere is cool/daylight.

Excellent color balance is achieved with the full spectrum lamp. The precise combination of red, yellow, green, and blue eliminates color distortion. The full spectrum lamp is an ideal light source for offices, schools, clothing and furniture stores, paint and wallpaper stores, the graphic arts industry, and anywhere outdoor light is desired. Because of the high degree of color rendering and balance achieved by this lamp, it is perfect in areas where color matching and grading are being done for quality control purposes.
