The Negative Effects of Improper LightingApril 4, 2018
Let’s face it, after a long and/or stressful day at work, many of us dream of the moment we can clock out and head home to our comfy bed. Our bedroom is a place of rest and relaxation, a place where we can escape from the outside world. While having a comfortable bed is an important factor in helping us wind down and relax, lighting also plays a crucial role as it can easily influence our mood. Here are some ways to create the perfect lighting in the bedroom.
- Purchase ceiling lights with controls. Ambient lighting is perfect for the bedroom, so you’ll want ceiling lights that have different settings. Be sure to install them around the bed instead of over it. Light fixtures with dimmers or ones that are operated by remote control make it easy to adjust the lighting if you want to watch TV, take a nap, or need to clean up/organize the room.
- Invest in reading lights. Even if you’re not a fan of reading, having some lights placed by the bed is a good idea. You may have a task or chore that doesn’t need a fully lit room, or you may need it if you need to get up during the night or answer the phone. If you already have a full bedside table, there are swing arm lamps available so your tables don’t become cluttered.
- Consider night lights. There are a wide variety of night lights that plug into wall outlets. There’s also the option of LED tape lighting, which emits light without a blinding glare so you can get an adequate amount of sleep during the night without tossing and turning due to a bright light in the room. Another bonus of this type of lighting? This tape can easily be added to the underside of your bed.
- Develop your own personal style of lighting. Whether you prefer dimmers, bedside lamps, plug-in night lights, LED tape, or string lights, creating the perfect escape for some R&R is all up to you and your personal preference. As long as it fits your needs and your style, you can’t go wrong!
